Hunters: The True Environmentalists

Hunting has many benefits for both men and women. It provides a relaxing and exciting way to enjoy the outdoors, it is a great way to get exercise, and of course, it provides wonderful food for the hunter and his or her family. Not only do hunters receive personal benefits from their sport, but they also help the environment while they are at it.
In my home state of Iowa, the money from hunting licences and habitat fees provide 41% of the funds for the DNR’s Fish and Wildlife Trust Fund. If the money from fishing licences is added, the combination provides 54% of the money. The money from the Trust Fund is used for fishery and wildlife management, wildlife research, habitat development, and many other things to help protect the environment (http://www.iowadnr.gov/Portals/idnr/uploads/Hunting/huntingregs.pdf).
